Summary

Intermediate Ceramics Workshop - Slab Construction process

Description

Imagine waking up every morning to your favorite beverage in a cup that you've made. You can make your own cup or mug in this Ceramics Workshop! This is an intermediate level class, if you have never worked with clay before we reccomend starting with our Pinch Pots for Beginners class.

This class consists of TWO sessions, two weeks apart. The first session we will create the form of our cup with a slab contruction method. Demonstrations will include how to use a slab roller, explainantions on working with and creating slabs, and fundamental attachment techniques. We will use templates for consistent results. Stamps and textures will be available for surface decoraction. Handles will be demonstrated, but optional. During the two weeks between sessions, the pieces we made will dry out and be bisque fired.

We will then meet for the second session to glaze! During this session we will go over the basics of glazes and underglazes and complete the process of our cups. The pieces we finished will then be loaded into the next available glaze firing and be ready for pick up (this can take a few weeks after the second session.) Students will receive an email when their work is ready for pick up!

This is a small class (6 people Max) so each student can receive hands on and induvidual instruction.

All materials and equipment are supplied.

Mininum age 12 years old.

Masks are reccomended and optional for those who are vaccinated.

Dress weather appropriate! The studios are not climate controlled. Studio clothes reccomneded, things can get messy!
