Repair/Alteration Techniques (11AM Session)

In this class, we will learn techniques both with our hands and on the machine that can be used to repair clothing and we will discuss ways in which one can begin to alter clothing. This class does not end with a completed project. 

If you are brand new to the sewing machine, please sign up for my Beginning Sewing Class to learn how to set up the sewing machine from the very beginning. If you are looking to try a more intermediate project, please take my Intermediate Sewing Class. 

If you have your own table top sewing machine, we encourage you to bring it with you! Please send me an email at freshbiscuitsbybk@gmail.com or DM me on instagram @freshbiscuits_ to let me know that you'll be bringing your own machine. 

During this class you will learn: 

• How to tie a quilter's knot
• The following hand stitches: baste, back, & catch
• About Sashito mending techniques (Japanese from the Edo period [1615-1868])
• How to mend holes in jeans
• How to distress a pair of jeans
• If we have time, I'll begin to talk about finishing techniques including those that use bias tape 

All materials and equipment are provided, unless you're bringing your own sewing machine. 

Ages: 13+

Face masks are optional. 

Please dress weather appropriate, the studio is not climate controlled. We will be outside and possibly in direct sunlight, so please wear sunscreen/hat if you are sensitive. I recommend wearing layers and to bring a bottle of water for yourself & maybe something quick to snack on. Cats do wander around the property, so be advised if you're allergic.

Lastly, the front door is locked and class begins on time, so please arrive 10-15 mins before so I can let you inside :)
