Summary

Using hand tools, the student will learn to make hand-cut through dovetails. This joint, while it may seem daunting, was a very basic skill learned by the apprentice in years gone by. These joints were used by common folk making their own furniture. The joints are strong and structural.

Description

In this workshop, we will be using hand tools to cut the interlocking through dovetail joint. Tools used are: dovetail saw, marking knife, combination square/try square & bevel gauge or dovetail guide, chisels and a mallet. Class will start with developing the fundamental use of the saw and following a line to cut where needed.

Please wear closed toed shoes for this workshop. Dress weather appropriate! The Workshop does not have climate control.
