Intro to Glassblowing Workshop - Pendants
Join us for a fun, hands-on class where you'll learn the basics of glassblowing. No experience needed - just bring your curiosity and creativity!

Duration: 4 Hours I Class Size: 2 Students
Format: 2 Hours Instruction + 2 Hours Hands-On Work
Class Objective: Students will learn the foundational techniques of glassblowing, understand safety and equipment operation, and create their own glass pendant by the end of class.
What's Included: Glass, fuel, kiln use, safety gear, and instruction
Minimum Age Requirement: 13+
Children aged 15 and below must have an accompanying adult, the adult does not have to be signed up for the workshop

Hour 1 - Safety & Fundamentals
Goal: Establish a safe environment and introduce students to the tools and materials of the trade.
Studio safety protocols (burn prevention, ventilation, PPE)
Torch & equipment operation
Basic flame chemistry (neutral, oxidizing, reducing)
Demonstration: Lighting the torch, controlling the flame, and safe glass handling.
Student Practice: Turning on/off the torch and adjusting the flame.

Hour 2 - Fundamentals of Glassblowing
Goal: Build a foundation for shaping and manipulating glass.
Creating a gather
Stretching & shaping (stringers, heat control)
Prep work & Punty use
Applying and layering color
Demonstration Project: Instructor creates a glass pendant step-by-step (gather, color, shape, loop).

Hour 3 - Hands-On Pendant Creation
Goal: Students apply learned skills to create their own pendants.
Practice heat control and shaping
Apply color and form the pendant base
Receive one-on-one guidance from the instructor throughout

Hour 4 - Finishing & Review
Goal: Complete pendants, refine technique, and review the day's lessons.
Students flame polish and finish pendants
Instructor assists with final shaping and loop attachment
All pieces placed in the kiln for annealing after class Wrap-Up: Review torch control, shaping fundamentals, and color use.
Students will pick up their finished pendants the following day after proper annealing.
